2010 McDowell Mountain Music Festival

Another year has come and gone for our very special McDowell Mountain Music Festival here in Scottsdale. After a disgruntled venue change from WestWorld (which lead to no camping) many festivarians were saddened by the changes. After witnessing the MMMF in its new digs, I think everyone was more than pleased with the outcome. Grace Potter and the Nocturnals brought the house down on Sunday night - - as well as 23 year old Trombone Shorty. The musical talent exuding from this stage over the weekend just left me with a good feeling.

There were more kids than ever this year, and there is nothing better than watching children rock out to some homegrown tunes! Bless those parents that decided to enliven their kids with a little culture. The MMMF is just what Scottsdale needs. One of my favorite quotes: "Children, they learn to dance before they learn there is anything that isn't music." These little boys just made my day!! The glue + glitter weren't even dry on their guitars - but they didn't care one bit!

Bucket List

I found this hot little list in the spare laptop case at work - and at first I couldn't beleive what I was reading, but then I thought - well, good for them for having hopes and aspirations - even if it includes writing a romance novel and joining the mile high club with "your wife's friends" (eeek!)

Originally, I thought that my bucket list would simply consist of a few key rules of simply doing what makes me happy, doing things that evoke happiness in those around me, and get outside as much as possible. Now I have learned that I should probably be a little bit more specific if I want to reach my goals. So here goes:

1. Roadtrip through 3 states in one week.

2. Learn how to cook one new meal per week, and invite my friends over.

3. Go to the local library, read 1 book per month.

4. Plan a camping trip with at least 10 of my friends.

5. Finish my personal website.

6. Take the 30-day Bikram yoga challenge.

I guess that is all for now!

Happy Easter from Tucson!

I am taking a much needed Easter weekend at my parents' house in Tucson. It amazes me everytime I come back here, just how good it feels to come home once in awhile. I am really looking forward to this weekend because we don't have any extended family in town, and I will just be able to veg out! There is nothing better than this view. Sometimes I really miss those mountains. I don't however, miss having a curfew, sleeping in a twin bed, and staring up at the infinite glow-in-the-dark universe I tackied to the ceiling at the ripe age of 13.
